Power is the critical resource for most heavy industries. Without power, there is no functioning of the industry. However, continous power is hard to come by. Hence, most industries use some kind of power generators. Mostly, the generators, or the gensets as they are called are of two types. One, the diesel generators and two, the electric generators.

The Diesel Generators are by far cheaper than the electric generators. There are also generators which are run by gasoline. But, the cost of maintenance and the cost of running a gasoline based generator is higher than that of the Diesel Generator . However, the initial investment on the diesel generator is higher than that of the investment to be made on the gasoline based generator.

The diesel generators are also having further sub divisions based on whether they are stationery or whether they are towable. Towable Diesel Generators are mounted on a trailer. They can be pulled along.

Also, most diesel generators create a lot of noise when they operate. However, in operations which are critical say in office complexes and also near hospitals where the continous power supply is critical and the noiseless operation is also as critical, there are ways in which the noise of the diesel generator can be muffled.
