The Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that he fought the war against terrorism on behalf of India. Speaking exclusively to an indian news channel he said that the fight that was waged by the Sri Lankan army against the dreaded Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, was also for the benefit of India and the region.
Getting rid of terrorism is the responsibility of every nation in the world, and he praised the Indian support for the fight against terrorism.
He also said that Sri Lanka will now work towards improving the living standards of the thousands of Tamils born and living in Sri Lanka.
