The US government cash-for-clunkers program , has helped the US automobile industry to show some decent recovery in July 2009. The scheme cost the government a massive one billion US dollars, and it gave steep discount to people to change their gas guzzling old cars at unbelievable rates.
In effect people were able to get up to 40% discount on the new fuel efficient cars they purchased on swapping their old car. But industry experts are worried about the immediate sales crash that can hurt the industry since what has happened in July is only an advancement of future demand.
